Contract rollover: what happens when the front month changes
Copy rules are stored per instrument root (ES, NQ, CL), never per contract month. So when the quarterly roll comes and ESU6 gives way to ESZ6, there is nothing to reconfigure. Your groups, sizing, Max, and Cross order settings all carry over untouched.
What you see at the roll
The first time the leader trades the newer month, a banner appears in the app:
"ES has rolled over to ESZ6. New trades follow ESZ6 automatically. Your open ESU6 positions are untouched, so close them yourself when you are ready."
That banner is the whole contract: new trades copy on the new month, and MirrorFill does not touch anything you still hold in the old one. Rolling an open position is a trading decision with real cost, so it stays yours.
Old-month positions
Any position still open in the outgoing month wears an OLD CONTRACT tag on the Trade Desk. The tag's tooltip says it plainly: the leader now trades the new contract, and this position is not affected. Close it when you are ready with the red Close at the end of its row (or at the bottom of its card in Cards view). A phone has no per-position Close, so use a wider screen. Flatten all works from a phone too, but it closes every position on every account, new-month ones and the leader's included, and pauses copying until you press Resume copying.
Until you close it, the old-month position just sits there. It is no longer driven by the leader's new-month trading, and the copier will not "roll" it for you by closing one month and opening another.
Cross order rolls too
Mini-micro Cross order keeps the expiry month, so a crossed follower rolls with the leader: when the leader's ES trading moves to ESZ6, the follower's fills move to MESZ6. Same rule, no edit.
Quick answers
Do I need to edit my copy rules at rollover?
No. Rules are keyed to the root (ES), not the month (ESU6). New trades follow the new contract automatically.
Will MirrorFill close my old-month position for me?
No. Old-month positions are untouched on purpose. They wear an "OLD CONTRACT" tag on the Trade Desk, and the red Close on that row closes them. Closing them is your call.
Does Cross order still map correctly after a roll?
Yes. Cross order keeps the expiry, so ESZ6 maps to MESZ6 just as ESU6 mapped to MESU6.
