The Economic Calendar
News moves futures, and several prop firms restrict trading around it. The Economic Calendar page puts the week's scheduled releases in a seven-column grid, so you can see what is coming before you start the copier.
Where the data comes from
Events are fetched server-side and cached for about six hours — one shared feed for everyone, refreshed on read when it goes stale. The line under the grid tells you the event count, the source, and when the feed was last updated; if a refresh fails you keep the last saved data and the page says so. A refresh button forces a re-check.
The feed covers the current week only. The week arrows stop at its edges rather than paging into empty grids — that is intended, not a bug.
Tabs and filters
Three tabs set the scope: All Events, Today, and Important. Important shows High-impact events only and hides holidays — the short list worth planning around.
Below the tabs, the filter row persists per browser, so your setup survives a reload:
- Country — a single-country select, or all.
- Timezone — Local, Chicago (CT), New York (ET), London, or UTC.
- Impact chips — High, Medium, Low; the All chip clears them.
- Holiday toggle — market holidays on or off (on by default).
A Clear chip appears whenever any filter is active.
Timezones re-bucket, not relabel
Switching the timezone does more than change the displayed clock times: it moves events between day columns. An event at 02:30 Chicago time on Wednesday is a Tuesday-evening event in a zone behind it — so the grid re-buckets every event into the day it actually falls on in the selected zone. Pick the zone you trade in and trust the columns.
Events with no scheduled clock time (all-day items) show a dash instead of a time.
Reading a row
Each row carries an impact dot, the time, the country, and the title. Hover a row and the tooltip adds A / F / P — the actual, forecast, and previous figures where the feed has them. The "What do the colors mean?" link under the grid opens the legend: High (rate decisions, NFP, CPI), Medium, Low, and Holiday.
Quick answers
Why can't I page to next week?
The feed covers the current week only, so the arrows stop at its edges. Next week's events appear when the week rolls over.
What does the Important tab show?
High-impact events only, with holidays hidden. The impact chips and holiday toggle are inactive while it is selected.
Do my filters reset every visit?
Country, timezone, impact, and holiday choices persist per browser. Only the tab resets to All Events.
