Rejected orders: what they mean
A broker can refuse an order, and no copier can overrule it. When a mirror is rejected, that follower is briefly a step behind its leader. What matters is that you see the reject, and that the engine's next move is sane. Here is both.
Where rejects show up
Two places, immediately:
- Trade Desk → Order history → the Rejected tab. Every reject is a row, with the account, the contract, and the reason the broker gave.
- The alerts bell in the topbar raises a notification for each reject, so you notice even if you are on another page.
Rejects are never swallowed. If your follower is behind, there is a visible record of why.
Common causes
- Firm or broker risk limits. A max-contracts cap, a restricted instrument, or a prop-firm risk rule blocked the order at the broker. The copier cannot bypass these — fix the size or the rule.
- Insufficient margin. The follower account cannot support the contracts at that moment. Common on smaller or drawn-down evaluation accounts.
- Closed market. The order arrived in a maintenance break or outside that instrument's session.
- Wrong account state. The account was disabled, in liquidation-only mode, or its session was not ready to accept orders.
What the copier does next
A rejected order never reached the follower's real book, so reconciliation sees the gap on its next quiet pass and retries what still makes sense — re-issuing exactly the missing difference once conditions allow, such as after the market reopens or margin frees up.
When a retry no longer makes sense and the engine gives up on an order, the missed quantity is written off rather than chased at market: the follower runs smaller for the rest of that position, visibly, instead of buying a worse fill at the worst moment. The write-off clears when the leader goes flat or reverses. Details in order expiry and write-offs.
Quick answers
Does one rejected order break the whole copy?
No. It affects one mirror on one account. Every other follower and instrument keeps copying, and reconciliation targets just that gap.
Will the copier keep hammering a rejected order?
No. It retries when the gap is real and conditions have changed, and it writes the quantity off when they have not. There is no blind retry loop against a broker that keeps saying no.
My follower still doesn't match after a reject — now what?
Work through follower position doesn't match the leader. It covers rejects, locks, paused rules, and the other usual causes in order.
