Set up your first copy in 10 minutes
This takes you from a fresh MirrorFill account to your first copied fill. You need credentials for a platform we support — Rithmic, Tradovate, or Volumetrica (dxFeed) — and at least two trading accounts: one to lead, one to follow.
Steps
- Add a connection. Open Accounts and click Add connection. Pick a platform tile — Rithmic, Tradovate, or dxFeed — and enter your login. The Connection name (up to 32 characters) is a label you choose. It cannot be renamed later, so pick something you will still recognize with five connections, like "My Apex login".
- Press Test. Test checks the login, discovers its trading accounts, and saves them. A good result is a toast like "Connected. 3 accounts found:" followed by the account IDs. If it fails, see testing a connection.
- Add a copy group. Open Copy Rules and click Add group. Pick the Leader account — the account you actually trade — and the Leader instrument: ES, MES, NQ, MNQ, RTY, M2K, YM, MYM, CL, MCL, GC, or MGC.
- Switch followers On and set sizing. Tick each follower On. Start with a Multiplier of 1× — the follower matches the leader's size. Or pick Exact quantity to always hold a fixed number of contracts in the leader's direction. Tick Cross Order if a follower should trade the micro sibling instead — MES rather than ES. The Max clamp (default 100) is the most contracts the follower will ever hold; set it lower if 100 is more than you'd ever want.
- Click Save changes. The group is stored. Nothing trades yet.
- Start copying. Press the blue Start copying button on the engine command strip — it sits at the top of Overview, Trade Desk, Accounts, Copy Rules, and Risk Management. Place a trade on the leader. The fill shows under Recent activity on Overview, and the mirrored positions appear on the Trade Desk.
Quick answers
How long does setup really take?
The app part is three pages: Accounts, Copy Rules, Start copying. The slow part is usually finding your broker credentials and deciding sizing. Start at 1× and adjust later.
Can the leader and followers be on different brokers?
Yes. Leaders and followers can sit on different logins and different platforms — a Rithmic leader can drive a Tradovate follower.
What if my follower is smaller than my leader?
Use a Multiplier below 1×, or Exact quantity, plus Cross Order for the micro contract and a tight Max clamp. See sizing: multipliers and exact quantity.
