Trades aren't copying: the checklist
You traded on the leader and a follower did nothing. Work this list top to bottom — it is ordered by how often each item turns out to be the answer.
Work down the list
- Is the engine actually copying? The engine strip on Overview, Trade Desk, Accounts, Copy Rules, or Risk Management must read Copying with a green dot. Stopped means nothing copies — press Start copying. If it says the kill switch is armed, press Resume.
- Does the group have a leader and a leader instrument? Open Copy Rules. A group missing either one copies nothing.
- Is the follower's row On? A paused follower shows Paused and its Follow switch off. Flip it back on — pausing keeps the settings, it just stops the copying.
- Is the connection enabled and up? On Accounts, the login must be Enabled. Press Test (the lightning-bolt button) to check it. The Status column shows the running copier, not the login — it reads Copier stopped until you start copying.
- Is the instrument blocked? Check Never copy these instruments on Copy Rules. A blocked root never copies, in any group.
- Did the save hit your plan cap? If a save came back with a message starting "Your plan covers … accounts total" and ending "Upgrade to add more.", the rule was never stored. See plans and account limits.
- Is the account locked? A daily-loss breach, a profit-target hit, or a manual lockout stops copying for that account while it keeps its position. Check Risk Management — see risk locks and the daily reset.
- Did order expiry write the quantity off? If you set an order expiry and a mirror didn't fill in time, it was cancelled and the missed quantity written off — deliberately never re-chased at market. It shows in Order history. See order expiry and write-offs.
- Is the row amber? Catching up means the follower is behind and the engine knows. Reconciliation corrects it on its own in a quiet moment — see when a follower doesn't match the leader.
- Read the record. On the Trade Desk, open Order history and check the Rejected and Failed tabs, then the alerts bell in the topbar. A reject names the broker's reason — margin, permissions, or session.
Quick answers
The strip says Copying but one account never follows.
That narrows it to items 3–8: a paused row, a disabled connection, a blocked instrument, a save the plan cap refused, a lock, or a write-off.
It copied yesterday. Nothing today.
Check the engine strip first — a stopped copier is the usual cause. Then check Risk Management for a lock that fired late in yesterday's session.
Do I have to rebuild my rules after fixing the cause?
No. Rules are stored settings. Fix the cause, and the next leader fill copies under the same rules.
