Test a connection

The Test button answers one question: can MirrorFill sign in with this login right now, and which trading accounts does it see. It always comes back with a result — a failed test is an answer, not an error page.

You can Test from two places: the lightning-bolt button in a connection row's Actions column, and the Test button inside the Add/Edit connection form — so you can verify credentials before you save anything.

The three answers Test gives

  • "Connected. N accounts found: …" — the login works, followed by the account ids it discovered.
  • "No trading accounts were found on this login." — the login itself works, but no trading accounts sit under it. Ask your firm or broker whether the account is provisioned yet.
  • "Could not connect: (reason)" — the login failed, with the broker's reason attached.

A passing Test saves your accounts

When you Test a saved connection, the discovered accounts are stored. That is what fills the account pickers in Copy Rules before the copier has ever run — no first session required. A re-test refreshes the account list and nothing else: it never undoes rules or settings you have already built on those accounts.

Testing from inside the form of a connection you have not saved yet checks the credentials only. Save it, and the accounts are looked up right after.

Status is not Test

The Status column reports the running copier, not your credentials. Until you start copying, every connection reads Copier stopped — that is normal and says nothing about whether the login works. To check credentials, use Test. And neither the Test button nor the Enabled switch starts or stops anything.

Passwords are write-only

MirrorFill never displays a stored password. When you edit a connection, the password field shows "(unchanged)": leave it empty and the stored password stays; type into it only when you mean to replace it. The same rule covers the Volumetrica platform key.

This also means you never re-enter a password just to Test a saved connection — an empty field falls back to the stored secret.

Quick answers

Does Test place orders?

No. It signs in and lists accounts. Nothing is ordered and the copier is not started.

Test passes but Status says Copier stopped. Which is right?

Both. Test checks the login; Status reports the running copier. A copier that isn't running reads Copier stopped however good the login is.

How do I get accounts into the Copy Rules pickers before the first run?

Test the connection once. A passing Test saves the discovered accounts and the pickers fill in.
